A home improvement loan is an option that will allow you to make low monthly payments and may have tax benefits.

Why choose a Permanent Generator over a portable?

Portable generators are a cheaper alternative but have some very serious drawbacks -
Carbon monoxide poisoning. Portable generators need to be set up well away from the home or fumes can seep into the home through many unnoticed vents, sometimes with fatal consequences. They are designed for outdoor applications like construction sites and camping.

Numerous people die each year trying to wire their portable generator to the main supply in their home.
Portable generators need to be manually started, stopped and require frequent refueling.  Do you want to be up all night checking on fuel or would you rather rest easy?

Portable generators are not designed to interface with house wiring unless a transfer switch is installed.  Fire alarms, security systems, pumps and other hard wired devices will NOT work in an outage.
Portable generators must be located outside (fumes) and typically the weather is inclement during a power outage. Do you want to be out there in the dark trying to set up emergency power?
